Australian Student Visa Update: Higher Fees & Onshore Application Changes (2024)
Attention international students considering Australia for your studies! There have been some significant changes to the Australian student visa process as of July 1, 2024.
Increased Visa Fees: The Australian government has more than doubled the student visa application fee, going from A$710 to A$1,600. This aims to address the high volume of visa applications and manage the pressure on housing caused by a record number of immigrants.
Onshore Application Restrictions: Visitor visa holders and those with temporary graduate visas can no longer apply for a student visa while they are already in Australia. You will now need to submit your application from outside the country.
